Why Most Affiliate Marketing Businesses Fail In The First Year

In this post, I am going to talk about why most Affiliate Marketing businesses fail, typically within the first year.

So, today I was reading other blogs and even took a look at Yahoo Answers, and found some common questions about why online businesses fail. The information I read was about online business in general, but I thought I would create a post that is directed specifically towards Affiliate Marketing.

Most people think that they need a big budget to start their business. This actually is not true for Affiliate Marketing. This is because, it’s an online business versus a brick and mortar store. This thought or hurdle alone will keep most people from starting their own business. If you are reading this post, you are mostly likely on a computer which is the first and most important tool for an online business. From there, it’s just a matter of finding your niche, and then creating your website, as I discussed in my posts, How to Start A Successful Online Business, Registering Your Domain Name and Choosing A Successful Niche. So, don’t let your budget or lack of budget be a reason for the demise of your Affiliate Marketing or online business.

Most people want to work for themselves however they lack the motivation. Sometimes the motivation is budget related, which I discussed above. However, most of the time, it’s just they lack the motivation to get their own business up and running, whether the business is brick and mortar or an online business such as Affiliate Marketing. This post is not meant to motivate you since I believe that having your own business should be all the motivation you need. Plus, I wrote some posts (The Pros and Cons of Starting an Online Home Business and Stay Motivated & Focused While Working From Home) that pretty much covers this topic.  So, don’t let the lack of motivation be a reason for the demise of your Affiliate Marketing or online business.

I see ad’s or whatever you want to call them that offer success for signing up with a program and that’s it. If you are one of those people who think that your Affiliate Marketing business (or any business for that matter) can be successful without little to no effort, unfortunately you will fail. If you want success, you are going to have to work for it. Affiliate Marketing is a legitimate business that will take a lot of effort to be successful and to generate profits for you. Don’t ever let anyone tell you differently.

I saved the best for last. Actually, it’s really not the best however it’s one of the biggest reasons why most businesses fail within a short amount of time, after starting up. It doesn’t matter if you have an online business in Affiliate Marketing, e-commerce or even a brick and mortar store. Every business takes time to be successful. Some find success right away, however this is actually not the norm. Most businesses take time to find success. So if you want success, you need to have patience. Building trafficto your Affiliate Marketing or other e-commerce website because it takes time. Optimizing your Affiliate Marketing or other e-commerce website for SEO purposes also takes time. Getting good page rank for your Affiliate Marketing or other e-commerce website takes time. So, as you can see by all these examples, if you don’t have patience, then your Affiliate Marketing website will most likely fail.

Ok to wrap this all up…. It doesn’t matter if you have a low-budget, you can have a successful online business in Affiliate Marketing or other e-commerce industry. If you are motivated, have the passion, are willing to put forth the effort, and are patient you will find the success you are looking for.
