Successful Time Management = Successful Affiliate Marketing

If you follow my blog, you will know that most people use Affiliate Marketing as an opportunity to work from home. While most people think that working from home is something that can be easily done, anyone who has done it for any length of time knows that it certainly does have its perks. However, it also comes with its challenges and one of the biggest challenges is staying productive. Staying productive can be tough for any job however I think that working from home presents even more challenges since the opportunity for distractions is greatly increased.  In this post, I am going to provide some tips that will help you stay productive and can be used at work and at home.

Some people feel that they are being overwhelmed by information and it prevents them from keeping up. The reality of the issues isn’t really the volume of information that you are receiving. For most people, its how they process and organize the information that they are receiving. If you are organized, you should be able to get a handle on everything that you are receiving, thus you should be able to organize it accordingly.

For example, most people think that they are overwhelmed with e-mail. Most people have themselves well established on the internet which causes them to receive their fair share of e-mails. These e-mails will include those from friends and family along with all the “other” e-mails that seem to come from just about every business out there. How you organize and receive these e-mails can make all the difference in the world. I am not going to get into e-mail handling in this post, however, all those e-mails that come from “other” sources can easily be sent to a specified folder(s), thereby reducing the number of legitimate e-mails to your Inbox by over 80%.

Some people think they have to keep everything because they never know when it might be needed again. Did you know that most people only really need to keep 50% of their stored information?  See, most people use about 15% of the things they keep and file. The other 85% typically gets overlooked (for whatever reason) which makes it in effective.  So, if you can identify the useful information and are able to discard the rest,  you can develop a streamlined, functional filing system. This will make it easier to find what you do keep along and will save you time and energy which allows you to complete  more meaningful tasks (like updating something for your Affiliate Marketing business.)

Believe it or not, some people think that being organized is a bad thing. I have heard some say that being organized actually gets in the way. Being organized is very important. Proper organization actually fosters and supports creativity and spontaneity.

Being organized is not hard at all. All you have to do is use the find and use the tools around you. For instance, almost everyone today has a computer, most of which have an e-mail program of some sort, such as Outlook. Most e-mail programs (even web-based) include a contact list, calendar and  task manager  These tools help you to manage your time and keep track of your tasks, along with storing your personal and business contact information. These are valuable  tools can also be used to pre-plan events and can even block out amounts of time in which you have nothing planned, which is one of the perks of an Affiliate Marketing business and working from home.

I am specifically referencing these in this blog post because I know many people who overlooked these tools.

Lets face it, everyone is busy. For most of us, the day doesn’t’ allow us to get everything we want completed. If you think about this concept, time is really not the issue. The real issue is time management and realistically deciding what you can do with the time you have.

Now I’m not sure where or how you keep track of your tasks because everyone is different. Some people write it down while others use their mobile device. Some don’t even do that, they just keep their tasks in their head and/or shoot from the hip (so to speak)

Most people use multiple methods which unfortunately is not always successful. If you want to be productive, in your personal life and with your Affiliate Marketing business, you need to central your tasks using just one tool. Now this next tip goes along with the one noted above about using Outlook or some other task manager.  See most of the task managers available allow you to create a task, set recurring tasks, set reminders, track status along with various other features depending on the program you are using. These features help you to improve your productivity  because you always know what to do and when to do it.

I have to admit that utilizing the tools around us does take time to set up and some effort to set up. Additionally, we all have to get in the habit of using these tools that are often overlooked. However, once these tools are in proper use you can save a significant amount of time each day by implementing a system to manage your information.

According to some statistics, most people spend about 2-3 hours a day in e-mail. About 60 minutes each day is spent finding & filing information. After setting putting the tips discussed in this post in use, almost 2 hours each day was saved.

This post provided just a few tips that can help you stay productive. If you would some additional tips, that apply more towards working from home and/or Affiliate Marketing, I recommend the following posts:
